DONATIONS & SUPPORT:

Water Cycle 2010 is a COAST-TO-COAST CYCLE TOUR ADVENTURE raising funds and awareness from the grass roots up for the humanitarian endeavor "charity: water," a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Oh, Glorious Vermont!

We've spent the last few days in Vermont, surrounded by the gorgeous views of the Green Mountains, rolling green pastures with wild flowers, and cool waters of rivers flowing past just inviting us to jump in. Blessed with great weather, minus a late night thunderstorm in Orange, VT, we've been building our stamina for the terrain and have been getting into the groove of traveling by bike, which I might add, includes a lot of ice cream consumption.

So far in the state, we visited the Ben and Jerry's factory in Waterbury, VT, and endulged in the best that they have to offer. Also that same day, we rolled further northward to visit a wonderful friend of Kathryn's, Collier, who is a trail crew leader for the Green Mountain Club. While staying with Collier, her friend Heidi gifted us a trip to an incredible swimming hole tucked away in a small river gorge and complete with waterfall - just amazing! We dozed off that night, well fed after an extraordinaryly yummy dinner with dreams of all the fireflies lighting the surrounding meadows.

Yesterday, we biked on from Waterbury to Richmond where we visited some more friends of Kathryn's from Warren Wilson at their family farm. Then we continued south to Bristol along one of our most beautiful rides yet! We had a steady climb for miles in beautiful countryside and then... THEN we got to go DOWNHILL! AND FAST! -through a winding gorge with a river on one side and a rock face on the other. And to finish off the day? ENORMOUS soft-serve ice cream cones at the Village Creamery in Bristol (and when I say enormous, I mean it was a big as my head!). We stayed at a campground just south of town, with the moon rising over the ridge and more fireflies dancing about in the meadow nearby.

We've been blessed with a lot of amazing views and experiences so far, and in the meantime our bodies are getting stronger, our appetites bigger, and we continually edging a little closer to our goal with every donation.

Up next? Upstate New York!
